Bossie: Dems Using Russia as 'Political Calculus' Against Trump

There is "no evidence whatsoever" that Russian influence led to President Donald Trump's election win, and what Democrats participating in opening hearings of the Senate Intelligence Committee is "quite dangerous," Trump's former deputy campaign manager David Bossie said Thursday.

"The American people need to wake up to the fact that they are using this as a political calculus to try to win points against President Trump," Bossie, the head of Citizens United, told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program. "They are doing damage because President Trump would like to, I expect, I haven't talked to him about this obviously, he would like to meet with [Russian] President Vladimir Putin at some point in the near future."

If there is going to be an investigation, then it should be done and gotten over with, Bossie continued.

"I served as the chief investigator for Congress for the congressional committee on Government Reform and Oversight, and I can tell you that if you want to follow the facts you've got to go where the facts lead you. There aren't any to lead you anywhere except for some Democrat operatives lining."

Bossie also on Thursday called on House and Senate investigators to subpoena Evelyn Farkas, President Barack Obama's Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, to testify following comments she made on March 2 during an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program.

On that show, Farkas said she urged colleagues to preserve information it may have gathered on Trump's campaign before he was sworn in, because she feared the new administration would hide evidence.

"She needs to be hooked up to a lie detector pretty quickly and get into a deposition before she finds herself very good lawyers that she is going to need," said Bossie. "They need to be sending her a subpoena. They need to be deposing her immediately to find out who exactly she was talking to and is she one of those that was leaking the information, the national security information."

In addition, he said Farkas could be guilty of a felony, because "she clearly knows either she did it or somebody she knows did it."

The president has uncovered such "insidious" things during the first part of his administration that there are "people, incredibly bad, intentioned people who are left over from the Obama administration who are trying to do damage to him for political purposes, incredibly irresponsible things to be done."
