David Bossie: Bannon Has 'A Lot More Weapons' Now

Steve Bannon will have "a lot more weapons" at his disposal now that he's left the White House, David Bossie, one of President Donald Trump's former campaign managers, said Friday.

"It is now easier for him to do the things, in a way, that he is not handcuffed like he was inside the White House," Bossie told Fox News' Bret Baier.

"Being on the outside, there is a lot of freedom, and you have a lot more weapons at your disposal."

Friday afternoon, hours after Bannon left the White House, the ex-strategist returned to his former post as executive chairman of Breitbart news, and chaired the website's evening editorial meeting, the website announced.

"The populist-nationalist movement got a lot stronger today," said Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow. "Breitbart gained an executive chairman with his finger on the pulse of the Trump agenda."

Bossie, who gave his interview before the news broke about Bannon's return to his former job, said he does believe that as chief strategist at the White House, Bannon was getting a "bad rap."

"If you look at the campaign, just as one example as anecdotal evidence, Steve Bannon came onto a campaign that was incredibly in upheaval, with Paul Manafort leaving the campaign," said Bossie. "Steve came in and organized that campaign and righted the ship."

Bannon, said Bossie, was able to put the Trump campaign together and help get it across the finish line.

"I think that there is a lot of people pointing fingers about chaos," said Bossie. "But I don't know if Steve is 100 percent responsible."

The White House, though, has gone under a great deal of upheaval in the short time since Trump took office, with several key players either being fired or resigning, but Bossie said Bannon's leaving won't change what has happened in the past.

Further, Bossie said that Bannon is "100 percent committed" to Trump, and won't be "at war" with the president.
