President Joe Biden is "putting Saudi Arabia first" by killing the Keystone XL pipeline project, Sen. Steve Daines said Friday.

"It looks like he cares more about workers in Saudi Arabia than the workers in America," the Montana Republican said during an interview on Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "This is going to have a direct effect [on] the pocketbooks of the American people here in the middle of a pandemic."

Within minutes of entering the Oval Office Wednesday, Biden had signed 17 executive orders to reverse several of former President Donald Trump's policies, including stopping the controversial pipeline project.

"He just killed 11,000 jobs. It is $80 million of tax revenues from my state of Montana to impoverished counties for schools and law enforcement and infrastructure," Daines said. "It is a major infrastructure project that President Biden killed six hours into his presidency. It is outrageous and it will get worse."

Daines said he's also concerned about the administration's plans to pause new oil and gas leases for federal lands and accused the administration of conceding to "far-left radical extremists" and their Green New Deal proposal.

"It's already beginning to be implemented," he said. "We're seeing it before our very eyes — it's going to kill jobs. It's going to raise energy prices."

Biden's action will also make the United States once again depend on the Middle East for its energy needs.

"Thank God that we've had this revolution in energy in America to reduce our dependency on the Middle East," he said, adding that the policies show Democrats are "friends with the radical left, Green New Deal side of the party" and not the American worker.
