Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., tweeted support Monday for the protests against Amazon staged in the U.S. and around the world, demanding that the online retail powerhouse "treat its workers with dignity, end its ICE and police partnerships, and stop polluting communities of color."

"I'm standing in solidarity with Amazon workers protesting its inhumane practices," the first-term Omar said in her post. "We won't back down.

"Amazon must treat its workers with dignity, end its ICE and police partnerships, and stop polluting communities of color."

In Cyber Monday protests, labor, environmental and digital-privacy groups worldwide protested Amazon's policies and practices, with dozens of demonstrators gathering outside billionaire owner Jeff Bezos' penthouse building in New York City.

"We're cold, we're wet and we're holding Amazon in check," the protesters chanted, according to news reports, along with "Bezos, Bezos you can't hide, we can see your greedy side."

Amazon responded in a statement that "self-interested critics, particularly unions and groups funded by our competitors, have a vested interest in spreading misinformation about Amazon, but the facts tell a different story."
