House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "lost and she lost big" in the House races, even with Democrats retaining control of the chamber, and it will be interesting to see if the more left-wing members will push to replace her, Rep. Dan Crenshaw said Thursday.
"I'm not a fly in the wall inside the caucus meetings, but it will be entertaining to go see them fight this one out," the Texas Republican, who won his reelection bid Tuesday, told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "She's a very good fundraiser, again, they outspent us in every single possible way, and yet they lost in every possible way."
He pointed out that it looks like the Senate will remain under Republican control, "and we gained quite a few House seats as well. We confirmed at least seven flips. I'm hopeful that we see more than that."
But it's still hard to see who would replace Pelosi, said Crenshaw, but at the same time, "she makes a great opponent for Republicans."
Democrats spent hundreds of millions of dollars to try to turn Texas blue, but they did not succeed, and Crenshaw said he's not surprised.
"It doesn't surprise me that the infamous blue waves never seem to materialize because Texans like their state and we like being the number one business climate," said Crenshaw. "We like low taxes and fewer regulations and we like good governance, secure borders, funding our police, all of the things that are the complete opposite of what the left wants. The left wants to destroy our energy sector, raise our taxes, and make our business climate like California. I don't see why this would be a compelling message to win."
Meanwhile, with the continuing controversy over the vote count, Crenshaw insisted that the integrity of the nation's elections must remain important.
"That means the process has to be simple and the rules have to be strict and strict deadlines and they have to be transparent," said Crenshaw. "These should not be controversial topics. To experiment with this low integrity voting process that many states have in one of the most divided times in the country's history is playing with fire. It was the worst thing that they could have done to our country and now we are paying the price and we all saw this coming."
