Lewandowski: Could Have Ended Intel's Questions With a 'No'

Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski has spent a total of 12 hours before the House Intelligence Committee answering questions about collusion between the campaign and Russians, but he said Monday he could have wrapped the line of questioning up in five minutes.

"I could have answered their questions very simply in the first five minutes," Lewandowski told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" co-host Bill Hemmer.

"'As the campaign manager to President [Donald] Trump's campaign, did you see any collusion between your campaign and the Russians?' My answer would have been: No, interview over. Let's move on.'"

The really "disappointing" thing, Lewandowski added, is that many of the questions he was asked in his last interview, a four-hour session this past Thursday were not related to the election, but for the time after Trump won.

"What that means to me, some of the individuals who are asking those questions had no real desire to find out if there was collusion, cooperation or coordination leading up to the election," Lewandowski.

And that, he said, means to him the probe a "political ploy" by the Democrats.

"What I have said from the very beginning was that if anybody colluded with a foreign entity to impact the outcome of our election, they should be in jail the rest of their lives," said Lewandowski. "But they started to ask me about things that took place after the election. I don't understand what that had to do with the outcome of the election. Donald Trump won the election. There was no collusion."

Lewandowski also said he'd characterize the line of questioning as "hostile, adversarial."

"It was done in such a manner where it really wanted to put me on the defense," he told Hemmer. "As a person who volunteered to be there on two occasions there, as a great expense to myself. I was there on Thursday. As many viewers know, there was a massive snowstorm in the Northeast. My family had no electricity."

Further, he insisted, "I answered every question that was relevant. Do you know what? Members of Congress wanted to go home on that Thursday so they cut the questioning short."
