Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski could be the president's frontman on his impeachment fight, reports CNN.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi earlier in the week announced a formal impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump in response to his efforts to pressure Ukraine to probe Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
The probe into Trump centers on whether he sought help from a foreign government to undermine Biden and help his own reelection.
Per CNN, Trump does not have a clear strategy in place to counter Democrats in the wake of the inquiry. Lewandowski spoke with officials Thursday about potentially taking a position within the administration to assist on that front, and his team could include Trump's former deputy campaign manager, David Bossie.
Bossie was a top House investigator during Bill Clinton's presidency, and served as chief investigator for the House committee that probed the Whitewater scandal.
Lewandowski told CNN he would serve Trump, "in any capacity he thinks I can be most helpful. However, I have not spoken directly to the president about leading an effort to push back on the fake impeachment narrative."
