President Donald Trump’s counselor Kellyanne Conway on Sunday downplayed his controversial retweet of a baseless conspiracy theory linking Bill and Hillary Clinton to the Saturday suicide of accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Conway said that “you do hear different people asking questions and they want to know who else was involved in Epstein's crimes, or even just activities.”
“I think the president just wants everything to be investigated,” she said.
She also defended Attorney General William Barr’s response by vowing to conduct a full investigation, saying, “Everybody should be at least relieved when an attorney general takes action as quickly as Attorney General Barr did yesterday.”
In the interview, Conway also said it won’t matter who runs against Trump in 2020, because left-leaning Democrats will have to “really defend socialism …and government-run things.”
“They think they're going to to run against Donald Trump,” she said. “They are running against the Trump economy also, running against deregulation,… against this big boom in manufacturing and small business ownership, running against a president who signed into law something President Obama and Joe Biden did not…which actually could stop a lot of these mass shooters.”
She also declared that Biden’s presidential bid is getting attacked from within the party as it moves to the left.
“Joe Biden is being attacked from within,” she said. “Being attacked by [California Sen.] Kamala Harris and [New Jersey Sen.] Cory Booker.”
