Kellyanne Conway: Will Become Apparent Trump Is 'New Sheriff in Town'

("Good Morning America")

President-elect Donald Trump will deliver a "beautifully written, powerfully delivered speech" after taking the oath of office, but even more it will be a continuation of what he promised to do on election night, but after that, it will become apparent there is "a new sheriff in town," incoming presidential counsel Kellyanne Conway said Friday morning.

"It's elegant, it's brief, but I think for Donald Trump it really is a continuation of what he promised to do in those wee hours of election night on Nov. 9, when he said, 'I want to be the president of all Americans, including those who didn't vote for me,'" Conway told ABC News' "Good Morning America" host George Stephanopoulos.

"[He] will set a great tone and a great content to try to unify the country and it's really up to all of us to meet that challenge along with him."

Conway appeared on the program after Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., who told Stephanopoulos she is celebrating her 50th birthday on Inauguration Day, and said she considers Trump a "perfect gift, in a president."

Trump's speech will be heard by billions worldwide, and he'll make it clear that America comes first, said Conway.

"Donald Trump didn't divide the country, but he has a wonderful opportunity to start to heal and unify the country," said Conway. "He wants to protect the American worker, American interest, that should not surprise anyone but at the same time, he really wants to continue, I think, the good will and the benevolence he's been shown by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and the Bidens in this transition period," said Conway.

However, she does feel Washington will "have a shock to its system" with Trump.

"You'll know almost immediately that there is a new sheriff in town, in that he plans on maybe upending some of the unconstitutional and job killing regulations that have been put into place," said Conway.

"He's made very clear that his priorities are to repeal and replace Obamacare and also to bring some regulatory relief and tax reform, even, George W. Bush who faced a democratically controlled senate was able to push through tax reform in the first few months of his presidency.

"We're hoping to get the same cooperation across the aisle so hard working Americans and middle class American families can benefit in his plan."
