Meghan McCain: Trump Tweets Push Conservative Women Away

Fox News' "Outnumbered"

Fox News' Meghan McCain bluntly called out President Donald Trump for his tweet-attack of MSNBC's "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski – saying it was "beneath the dignity of the White House" – and damages efforts to attract millennial women to conservatism.

In remarks on Fox News' "Outnumbered" on Thursday, McCain said she is "not a fan" of the MSNBC morning show and has been "offended" by its attacks on Fox – but was "grossed out" by the president's tweet.

"This is beneath the dignity of the White House and the presidency," she said. "We have so much going on with healthcare, with Russia, with North Korea, these are the issues I would like to focus on. It changes the narrative."

And she said she is also concerned "about the next generation of women coming to my party and seeing beyond gender politics."

"I don't want to be seen as a party that somehow isn't respectful towards women. Women are entitled to get cosmetic surgery if they want. . . . Bringing it up in a way that tries to diminish her and humiliate her publicly, it makes everybody across the . . . country look bad.

"For me personally, it makes my job talking to millennial women about politics — specifically about why the should become conservative — much more difficult," she added.

McCain added first lady Melania Trump's own "platform is cyber-bullying" saying "it's hypocritical that [Trump is] still doing this while it's our first lady's platform."
