Republicans may be partially to blame for Hillary Clinton's ability to escape prosecution on matters from the Benghazi attack to her use of a private email server, Washington Examiner columnist W. James Antle III writes in The Week
"When it comes to Clinton scandals, Republicans always manage to seem a little too eager, a little too partisan," says Antle, who believes the same theory applies to former President Bill Clinton.
"They pursue serious allegations against the Clintons and more frivolous ones with equal vigor. In this, they are almost enablers of the Clintons' most shameless defenders.
"Republicans either overreach, such as pursuing an unpopular impeachment despite no realistic path to conviction in the Senate, or miss the forest for the trees …"
On Thursday, FBI Director James Comey told a Congressional committee that Clinton's actions in using a private email setup as secretary of state did not meet the standard of prosecution.
