Oscar-winning actor Tim Robbins is being raked over the coals by supporters of Hillary Clinton after comparing the Democratic presidential front-runner's victory in South Carolina to "winning Guam."

Robbins, a dyed-in-the-wool liberal whose movies include "Mystic River" and "The Shawshank Redemption," was stumping for Bernie Sanders in Green Bay, Wisconsin, when he let loose on Americans rooting for Clinton.

According to The Wrap, Robbins told the crowd that voters "who feel Bernie in their hearts but are supporting Hillary with their pragmatic brains" are "not bad people."

The he added: "And if we were sheep, if we had gotten in line, there'd be no problem now."

Robbins said of Clinton's victory in The Palmetto State, "Who's fooling who? Winning South Carolina in a Democratic primary is about as significant as winning Guam. No Democrat is going to win in South Carolina in the general election."

Those less-than-diplomatic remarks instantly triggered an avalanche of fury against Robbins on Twitter:

Robbins later tried to clean up his mess, tweeting he meant no disrespect.
