A former State Department employee's decision to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights to avoid incriminating himself shows how out of control Hillary Clinton's email scandal has become, NBC News' Chuck Todd said Friday.

"You cannot come up with a politically worse outcome than suddenly when you realize this email story is no longer in your control," Todd commented during MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program.

Clinton on Friday told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell in an exclusive half-hour interview on Mitchell's noon news show that she is "sorry" that her email issues have been "confusing to people and have raised a lot of questions," while taking responsibility for the decision to use a private email server and a personal account while in office.
