Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called on President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers to work with Democrats in fixing healthcare, the Washington Examiner reported.

"I would make my friends on the Republican side and President Trump an offer: Let's turn over a new leaf. Let's start over," Schumer said Wednesday on the Senate floor.

He called for Trump to invite all 100 senators to join in discussion of the issue.

"President Trump, I challenge you to invite us, all 100 of us, Republican and Democrat to Blair House (the president's guest house in Washington) to discuss a new bipartisan way forward on healthcare in front of all the American people," Schumer said.

His call for a bipartisan approach to fixing healthcare in the U.S. has been echoed by some lawmakers from both parties, as well.

"This is not for Republicans to fix or Democrats to fix — this is for us as Americans to fix," Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, told NBC News.

And Ohio Gov. John Kasich, a Republican, has called for GOP lawmakers in Congress to work with Democrats on a bipartisan solution, according to the Examiner.
