Schumer Calls Cruz Healthcare Amendment a 'Hoax'

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Thursday took aim at the healthcare amendment proposed by Sen. Ted Cruz, calling it "a hoax."

While the Better Care Reform Act (BCRA) languishes during the congressional recess, Cruz and fellow conservative Sen. Mike Lee have been working on an amendment that would thrust the legislation farther to the right.

Schumer joined in the chorus of Cruz's fellow Republicans who believe it would indeed lower costs by kicking millions more people out of healthcare — including those with pre-existing conditions.

Schumer also accused President Donald Trump of "sabotaging marketplaces."

Make no mistake, the @SenTedCruz amendment is a hoax. Under the guise of lowering premiums, it makes health care more expensive.
