Sen. Chris Murphy: 'No Chance' Iran Pact Will Be Renegotiated

By    |   Sunday, 15 October 2017 01:34 PM

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., said Sunday there’s “no chance” the multinational Iran nuclear pact will be renegotiated, blasting President Donald Trump’s push for Congress to fix the 2015 deal.

In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Murphy also blasted the White House for not enforcing the sanctions that Congress has already imposed.

"There is no chance that the deal is going to be renegotiated,” Murphy declared. “The Iranians will not renegotiate it and neither will the Europeans."

"Earlier this year, Republicans and Democrats joined together to pass new sanctions against Iran's ballistic missile program,” he added. “The president hasn't implemented those sanctions.

“So, the White House can't complain that Iran is still acting in the deleterious manner in the region and then not implement the powers that we have given him to try to stop that behavior."

Murphy also lashed into Trump for trying, with an executive order to cut subsidies to Obamacare, to" sabotage the American healthcare system.”

“The president is … trying to put a gun to the head of our constituents by taking away their healthcare or raising their costs in order to force us to repeal a bill that the American public doesn't want us to repeal,” he argued.

He called the executive action “healthcare arson.”

“He's really literally setting the entire health care system on fire just because the president is upset that the United States Congress won't pass a repeal bill that is supported by 17 percent of the American public."
