New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's appearance on New York City's WFAN sports talk radio station Monday turned to politics when he was slammed for his recent stay on a state beach by a sports radio caller.
"Governor, next time you want to sit on a beach that is closed to the entire world except you, you put your fat a-- in a car and go to one that's open to all your constituents," the caller said. "Not just you and yours."
Christie replied by calling the caller a "communist," to which the caller replied, "you're a bully, governor, and I don't like bullies."
Christie, a Republican, brushed off the widespread criticism and said he wasn't apologizing for spending time with his family at the state-owned Island Beach State Park over the Fourth of July weekend after he shut down public beaches because of a budget stalemate. The Star-Ledger newspaper released the photos of Christie lounging on the beach with his family last Monday, sparking a national media firestorm.
Christie also called the man on the radio show a "bum" and slammed him for "swearing on the air."
