New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has canceled a stump appearance for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in New Hampshire on Saturday, according to a tweet from NH1 reporter Paul Steinhauser.

Christie's cancellation comes on the heels of two of his allies being found guilty of a plot to close lanes on the George Washington Bridge in September 2013.

Bridget Kelly, the governor's former deputy chief of staff, and Bill Baroni, an appointee to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, allegedly closed the lanes to punish a Democratic mayor for not endorsing Christie's re-election bid.

"Let me be clear once again, I had no knowledge prior to or during these lane realignments, and had no role in authorizing them," Christie wrote in a statement, according to the AP.

"No believable evidence was presented to contradict that fact. Anything said to the contrary over the past six weeks in court is simply untrue."

Democrats have called for Christie to step down as member of Trump's transition team, according to The Hill.

"His two top aides [Friday] were just convicted of corruption for political intimidation, so rather than just crisscrossing the country and hopscotching and talking about cleaning up the swamp, [Trump] might start by draining his own swamp and asking Mr. Christie to resign as the head of his transition," Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta told reporters, per The Hill.
