Hu Xijin, editor of China’s state-run Global Times newspaper, tweeted Friday that many Chinese people feel sympathetic for former Vice President Joe Biden after reading about his life on the internet.
“Various articles introducing Biden’s life have become popular on the internet in China,” Hu tweeted on Friday. “The tragedy of him losing close family members has aroused sympathy among Chinese people. His failed bids for presidency in the past have also helped create an image of a tenacious man.”
According to Breitbart, the Chinese government expects no major changes to U.S.-China relations if Biden wins the election.
In the days leading up to the election, Chinese social media accounts sent out messages indicating they don’t support Biden, according to the outlet.
