With her mother's presidential campaign out of the way, Chelsea Clinton has taken a less cautious, bolder approach on social media, as Politico chronicled Sunday.

"Hillary Clinton's devastating defeat, coupled with the rise of President Donald Trump, has coaxed out a new Chelsea: provocative, punchier, and, for virtually the first time in her life, someone angling for attention in the political fray," Politico's Annie Karni wrote.

That one was example of a more pointed, and well-received Chelsea Clinton social media appeal to the anti-Trump masses.

"Lots of people are riled up and dialing it up – not as loyalists, but as citizens," Philippe Reines told Politico. "I'm guessing that's a big part of the motivation behind what she's saying and how she's saying it. She just also happens to be a Clinton."

The tweets come directly from Chelsea on her iPhone and without any screening by a political aide, sources told Politico.

Bari Lurie, Bill Clinton's chief of staff, told Politico nothing has changed with Chelsea, only the attention that has been paid to her political views.

"There is not a lot new going on here – just a continuation of what she has been saying," Laurie told Politico. "I guess I only wish more attention was paid to her events on the trail, as I don't think her tone would feel so foreign."

Chelsea might be seizing on an opportunity to build up her own political cachet, per the report.

"I don't know if she's ever going to run for office – I have no idea," Gov. Terry McAuliffe, D-Va., longtime Clinton friend, told Politico. "She's bright, and she's engaged, and she's got things to say on issues, and I think it's great having her voice out there."
