NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley said it is "unbelievable" Republican Roy Moore is still running for the Alabama Senate seat that is up for grabs.

Barkley is from Leeds, Alabama, and will attend a rally Monday night for Democrat Doug Jones, who is running against Moore in Tuesday's special election.

"It can't be Roy Moore," Barkley, who played basketball at Auburn University, told AL.com. "To me it's silliness that this guy's trying to win.

"This is unbelievable to me. You couldn't make it up. If somebody sent you a script, with all he's done and said, you wouldn't believe he could still be in the race."

Several women have accused Moore of varying degrees of sexual misconduct, saying he pursued them 40 years ago when they were teenagers and he was in his early 30s. Moore has denied doing anything wrong, but the allegations hoisted the race into a massive national spotlight.

Barkley will appear on stage to stump for Moore at Monday night's rally, along with actress Uzo Aduba and others. According to The Hill, the event is slated for 6 p.m. ET in Birmingham.

Aduba, whose resume includes a long-running role in the Netflix series "Orange Is the New Black," posted this on Twitter earlier Monday:

Tuesday's election is expected to be close, with some polls giving Moore an advantage and others saying Jones will be victorious. The Monmouth University Poll announced Monday the election will likely come down to voter turnout.
