Harvard University canceled a course for its winter 2019 semester scheduled to be taught by Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh after he told the school he wasn't able to commit to serving as the professor.
The Harvard Crimson reported Monday that Associate Dean and Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs Catherine Claypoole emailed students about the canceled class.
"Today, Judge Kavanaugh indicated that he can no longer commit to teaching his course in January Term 2019, so the course will not be offered," Claypoole wrote.
Kavanaugh was slated to teach a course called "The Supreme Court since 2005," according to another Harvard Crimson story.
Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court is in jeopardy over allegations that he drank too much in high school and college and sexually assaulted women during the same time period. He denies the claims, but Senate Republicans cut a deal for the FBI to take another look at Kavanaugh's background this week.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday the full Senate could vote on Kavanaugh's nomination this week.
