Bossie: Trump Forced to Act on Obamacare Because Congress Failed

David Bossie, the former deputy campaign manager for President Donald Trump, defended the president's executive order on Obamacare and said Congress' failure to act forced the issue.

"This has been a major frustration for the president," Bossie said Friday on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" morning show. "This is not what he wanted to do, obviously. He wanted to have Congress fix it. He wanted to repeal and replace."

"I think that this president has said, 'I made a promise to the American people and now I'm going to keep it.'

And Bossie said Trump has every intention of living up to his promises.

"He has said from Day 1, since his first day of his candidacy, (that) Obamacare is failing," Bossie said. "It is imploding on itself. People, the American people, have no choices in three quarters of the counties in America today — no choices, only one provider. The premiums, whether it's in Arizona or any other state, have skyrocketed."

He noted: "I just was in a store the other day and the guy who runs the store, little mom and pop store, said to me, 'Dave, they are doubling my premium. They are killing me. I don't know how to solve this problem.' And that is what average Americans are seeing it their premiums."

Trump signed an executive order Thursday promising to provide millions of Americans "with Obamacare relief," Politico noted.

Meanwhile, Bossie also weighed in on the nuclear pact with Iran during his appearance on Fox News. He noted Trump had called it a bad deal during the campaign.

"He is, again showing the American people that Congress is broken," he said. "He is going to show just how ineffective they are by sending it back to them and saying you now have 60 days to review and come back."

And he added: "They can't tie their shoes or order lunch in 60 days. It's going to be an educational moment."
