President Donald Trump is fundraising ahead of his Oval Office prime-time address Tuesday night, urging supporters to pledge a half-million dollars in a day for the "Official Secure the Border Fund."
The appeal in an email blast to supporters will go through the Make America Great Again Committee, a joint fundraising committee for the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee, The Hill reported.
"We need to raise $500,000 in ONE DAY. I want to know who stood with me when it mattered most so I've asked my team to send me a list of EVERY AMERICAN PATRIOT who donates to the Official Secure the Border Fund," the email stated in Trump's name.
"Please make a special contribution of $5 by 9 PM EST to our Official Secure the Border Fund to have your name sent to me after my speech," it added.
Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway told Fox News' "Outnumbered Overtime" she had not seen the fundraising plea.
"I haven't seen that letter, and here at the White House I'm not meant to be political, so I don't have a comment on that," she said. "But I haven't even seen that letter."
During his prime-time address Tuesday night, Trump is expected to make his case for his long-promised border wall to stem illegal immigration.
It will be followed by a joint response from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.
The lack of at least $5 billion to build a border wall — which Democrats refused to agree to — triggered a partial government shutdown Dec. 22.
