Boehner: House to Vote Oct. 29 on New Speaker

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the next speaker on Oct. 29, House Speaker John Boehner announced on Monday.

On Thursday, House Republicans will meet to choose their party's nominee for the post, but the speaker is elected by the entire House of Representatives.

In a statement, Boehner said that once the next speaker is elected, the Republicans will choose the rest of their party leadership team on a date to be established by the new speaker.
