GOP Legislative Schedule Gets Pushed Back

Legislative accomplishments often take longer than expected. And so it is with the House Republican agenda. The original aggressive schedule for it has been slowed, The Hill reports.

“The GOP had hoped to hold a floor vote by late January on legislation rescinding already appropriated funds in the stimulus and other legislation, but it is now more likely that the rescission package will be folded into a measure to keep the government funded beyond March,” the news service states.

The rescission bill will probably be completed close to the March 4 expiration of the continuing resolution funding, says Missouri Republican Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, chairwoman of the House Appropriations subcommittee on financial services. Part of the delay stems from the tragic Tucson shooting, she notes.
