A group of young Republicans in Alabama voted to pull its support of embattled Senate candidate Roy Moore as several allegations of sexual misconduct have threatened to derail his campaign.

The Greater Birmingham Young Republicans passed a measure Thursday to officially rescind its endorsement of Moore ahead of the Dec. 12 special election.

"The Greater Birmingham Young Republicans censures and revokes its support to Roy Moore for U.S. Senate as the Republican nominee," reads an announcement posted to the Twitter account of Collier Tynes, who once served as chief of staff to former Alabama First Lady Dianne Bentley.

The group also urged the Alabama GOP to "censure and revoke any support to Roy Moore for Senate and his status as the Republican nominee." The state's Republican Party is still standing by Moore.

The right-leaning organization added that it is "committed to protecting women and children from similar acts of sexual misconduct."

Moore has been accused by several women of sexual misconduct when they were teenagers 40 years ago. He also is accused of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old, and is alleged to have groped a woman when she was 28.

Moore has called the accusations false and has vowed to stay in the race despite pressure from both Democrats and Republicans to step aside.
