Sen. Cassidy: Trump's G-7 Dispute Like a Marriage Fight

Sen.  Bill Cassidy, R-La., compared President Donald Trump’s trade dispute with G-7 nations to having a fight with your spouse.

Cassidy’s remarks came during a Monday interview on CNN’s "New Day" program. The news network posted a video of the interview on Twitter:

"Did you ever have a fight with your spouse?" he asked. "In that fight you just make a decision that things were said that we wish were not but there’s an underlying issue that needs to be addressed."

And he added: "I think we as a western alliance need to address the issue."

Meanwhile, the European Union is backing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the dispute. Trump had branded him "dishonest" and "weak" after the recent G-7 summit.

Trump had initially agreed to a G-7 statement on trade, but later withdrew from it after Trudeau criticism.
