Joe Biden says he will push an immigration bill through the Senate in his first 100 days in office to establish a ''pathway to citizenship for over 11 million undocumented people in America.''

Biden has not been certified as the winner of the presidential election, though several news outlets have called the race for the former vice president. Newsmax has not announced a winner, citing close races in several battleground states, recounts, and legal challenges.

Still, Biden has started his transition and in a wide-ranging interview with NBC News’ Lester Holt said he was committed to sending an immigration bill to Congress immediately.

Biden has already promised to restore the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which allows about 600,000 young immigrants who live in the U.S. illegally and were brought here as children to remain here. He is also expected to end the Trump administration's so-called Muslim ban, family separation practice, and construction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Several senior Republican lawmakers are willing to work with the Democrat on a comprehensive immigration reform package should he win the election.

''I think that would be a good thing to do,'' Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said about tackling immigration in 2021.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who has not accepted news outlets’ projection of a Biden win, said he would be willing to work with his administration ''if he wins — and I’m not conceding that he will — in ways to make the country stronger.''
