Sen. Bernie Sanders criticized the release of a Republican memo detailing how the Department of Justice spied on the Trump campaign Friday, saying it puts politics ahead of patriotism.

Sanders aired his thoughts on Twitter roughly two hours after the memo was made public. Earlier Friday, President Donald Trump declassified the document.

Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., wrote the memo as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. The document talks about the process of how the Department of Justice obtained a FISA warrant to spy on Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page in October 2016.
