Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon on Sunday said he wants Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House Coronavirus Response coordinator, to “show us the metrics” that she’s been using as guidance to the federal response to the coronavirus outbreak.
In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Bannon said Birx referred to the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation data as fueling the White House decision to extend social distancing measures until the end of April.
“Look I've got a lot of confidence in Dr. Birx and Dr. [Anthony] Fauci but I think they have to come forward and we have to see the metrics she's talked about,” he said, adding, “I can go online and to the University of Washington and see all of the ones…the professors have done a great job. We need to see what the metrics are that she's looking at and that she thinks is success.”
He also said the coronavirus should be called what it really is: “the CCP virus.”
“The good and decent people and the Chinese people are among the most good and decent people on Earth. It's the people in Wuhan that bore the brunt of this and were basically destroyed. The Chinese Communist Party we know knew about this from at least late December in all probability from early December,” he said — and that there was human-to-human transmission.
