Attorney General Jeff Sessions has hired a top Republican lawyer to represent him amid several concurrent investigations regarding Russia and President Donald Trump's campaign.
The National Law Journal reports that Sessions hired Charles Cooper, who was spotted sitting behind Sessions during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing last week.
Cooper confirmed his working relationship with Sessions but would not go into details about what that entails.
A spokesman for the Department of Justice's Russia investigation would not comment to the Journal when asked if Sessions was part of any criminal probe involving Trump and Russia. Sessions worked closely with the Trump campaign last year.
Because of his ties to the campaign, Sessions recused himself from any DOJ investigations tied to it.
USA Today reports that Sarah Isgur Flores of the Justice Department served as Sessions' adviser during his Senate confirmation hearings in January.
