Conservative group Americans for Prosperity said Tuesday that it will debut a new television ad Thursday targeting Arkansas Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor, slamming his glowing support of Obamacare.
"We want all Arkansans to know where Sen. Pryor stands on this issue," the group's Arkansas director Jason Cline said. "We want people to contact him and let him know that this isn’t 'an amazing success story' and that families are hurting," he said, referring to Pryor's assertion last August
that the healthcare law had been "an amazing success story."
The Washington Post reported
that Pryor is the latest vulnerable Democrat to be targeted by the AFP; the group also has poured money into efforts to defeat North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan as well as Democrats running for open seats in Michigan and Iowa.
With the new ad spending, the group could surpass the $38.5 million it spent during the 2010 midterms, The Post reported.
"We’re definitely not finished," AFP President Tim Phillips told The Post.
Americans for Prosperity also spent $122 million in 2012
to defeat President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats.
