Poll: Many Arizonans Say Gun Laws Not Strict Enough

Fifty-four percent of Arizonans believe current gun laws are not strict enough, according to a new poll by OH Predictive Insights.

Thirty-seven percent say the current laws are sufficient, while 4% say they are too strict.

A May poll showed 48% of Arizonans believed the gun laws were not strict enough, while 41% say the laws were sufficient. Six percent said they were too strict.

Here are how the results, released on Thursday, break down:

  • 29% off Republicans in Arizona believe current laws are not strict enough, while 59% say the laws are sufficient. 3% believe the laws are too strict.
  • 76% of Democrats in Arizona believe current laws are not strict enough, compared to 16% who say the laws are sufficient. 3% say the laws are too strict.
  • 60% of independents say the current laws are not strict enough, while 33% believe the laws are sufficient. 5% believe the laws are too strict.

The poll, conducted Aug. 13-15, surveyed 600 Arizonans. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
