President Donald Trump's claims about being wiretapped should not be dismissed without giving Trump some time, Trump adviser Anthony Scaramucci said Wednesday during an interview on CNN's "New Day."
"I think he's got a lot on his plate. He's cooking on five or six different stovetops right now. He's got to get the healthcare passed. He's working on the tax legislation. He's rolling back these regulations that we all need to get rolled back to get the economy growing again. So let's give him a little time," Scaramucci said.
Host Chris Cuomo said that Trump could resolve the issue by making a phone call. Responding to Scaramucci's statement, he said, "The next part of that statement should be 'I don't know why he keeps creating these bogus scenarios to distract people from his own agenda.'"
Scaramucci objected to the term "bogus," but Cuomo pointed out that officials had debunked the claims. Scaramucci, a former Trump transition team member, then pointed out Trump's short time in the political realm.
"He's 21 or 22 months as a politician. He's used several devices to come over the top of the mainstream media to deliver information to his base. He said a few weeks ago that he would not have been president, in his opinion, had he not had those devices," Scaramucci said.
"His instincts are very good. As it relates to this situation, I think what he said is let's let more time pass, and let's see what actually happens," Scaramucci added.
In December 2016, Scaramucci also defended Trump's words. "Don't take him literally, take him symbolically," he said in an MSNBC interview.
