An adviser to the president on Monday likened Jared Kushner to Alexander Hamilton during a CNN interview.
Anthony Scaramucci said on the "New Day" morning news program that he sees a lot of similarities between Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, and founding father Hamilton, drawing a bit of scorn from host Chris Cuomo.
"I think he's like an Alexander Hamilton. He's a young man who has a tremendous amount of maturity," said Scaramucci, identified as an informal adviser to Trump.
"Just like his country — young, scrappy and hungry?" Cuomo responded. "What do you mean he's like Alexander Hamilton? He's nothing like Alexander Hamilton."
"To me he is and I'll explain why: He's got the trust of the president. He's very very thoughtful," Scaramucci said. "He knows how to bring people in … that was Hamilton's great gift at a very young age. Jared has that. I think the reason why the president's given him such a large portfolio is that Jared is very good at picking people."
Scaramucci also addressed the many reports of infighting between Kushner and chief strategist Steve Bannon, brushing them off as simply a clash between strong personalities.
"My guess is that whatever rubbings are going on right now are classical to sports teams, political teams … where you got strong personalities that are trying to achieve a lot and they may be rubbing into each other a little bit," said Scaramucci, part of Trump's transition team.
"I predict those two guys will continue in the role that they have and will do very well."
