Ann Romney: Women Care About Jobs, Economy, Children, Debt

Before Mitt Romney's rousing speech to supporters in Boston Tuesday night,  Ann Romney, the candidate’s wife, took the stage and sought to rebut the criticism that her husband doesn’t connect with women. “I have something to say about some of the women that I’m hearing from,” she roared in an impassioned voice, Politico reports.

“We’ve been all across this country. Do you know what women care about? Women care about jobs. Women care about the economy. They care about their children, and they care about the debt.”

So how do women feel about the economy’s direction? “They’re angry, and they’re furious about the entitlement debt that we’re leaving our children,” Ann Romney said, Politico reports. “This is what we’re hearing when we’re out there. This is our message. It’s an economic message. It’s about the future for our children.”

Romney suggested she was reluctant to see her husband, who won the Massachusetts primary Tuesday night, run for president again after falling short in 2008. “I said, Mitt, I’m never gonna do this again. But here we are,” she said. “The reason I’m here behind Mitt and fighting so hard is that I believe he’s the only person who can turn around America, so let’s let him do that.”
