The Senate Intelligence Committee is only about 20 percent into its investigation of Russian meddling in last year's presidential campaign and any collusion with the Trump campaign, Sen. Angus King said Sunday.
In an interview on NBC News' "Meet The Press," the Maine Independent said the issues are "complex."
"I can say categorically that the collusion, the cooperation aspect of the investigation is not over," he said. "And as far as that goes, I'd say we're 20 percent into it," he said.
"I think we'll be done maybe at the end of the year," he said. "This is a very complex matter. There is a lot of witnesses and investigation yet to go."
King said the "underlying question" that Russia "tried to screw around with our elections and also with a state election system" is what he finds "really scary. "
We'll have a hearing on that this week, and that could ultimately be the most dangerous part of this."
