Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., will meet with attorney general nominee William Barr on Thursday after she claimed he had first balked on getting together before his confirmation hearing next week.

Klobuchar announced plans for the meeting on Twitter.

She wrote: “Thanks everyone. My meeting is now set for this afternoon with AG nominee Barr. Coffee will be hot.”

Plans for the meeting materialized after Klobuchar, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, had said Barr would not see her until after confirmation hearings were concluded. The hearings are set to begin next week.

In a Wednesday Twitter post, she referred to her efforts and those of Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., to meet with Barr.

She tweeted: “I tried (as did Blumenthal) to get meeting w/AG nominee Barr and was told he couldn’t meet until AFTER the hearing. The reason given? The shutdown. Yet shutdown didn’t stop him from other mtgs. This is a 1st for me w/any nominee as a member of judiciary. #Uncool #BadSign.”

And she followed up that tweet with another one, writing: “Memo To Whoever Is In Charge: Last time I checked, AG nominee Barr was not a furloughed worker. Why was shutdown given as reason for him not meeting w/me before hearing like every other nominee has done w/judiciary Senators? I even met w/head of patents once. Will serve coffee.”
