The Biden administration is in discussions with Amazon to examine how the tech giant can help with the coronavirus vaccine rollout, Politico reported on Tuesday.

“We are consulting with many companies, including Amazon, about specific ways they can help execute the President’s national strategy against COVID,” White House spokesperson Kevin Munoz said. “Companies with logistics and technical expertise could help Americans get vaccinated more efficiently and more equitably.”

An Amazon spokesperson told Politico that the company was "committed to assisting governments with vaccination efforts as we work together to protect our workers and continue to provide essential services during the pandemic."

The discussion comes as states have opened mass inoculation sites and expanded eligibility for the vaccine, but the supply is not increasing fast enough to keep up with the demand, according to The New York Times.

Amazon's consumer business CEO Dave Clark wrote a letter last month to President Joe Biden offering the company’s help, stating that "we are prepared to leverage our operations, information technology, and communications capabilities and expertise to assist your administration's vaccination efforts," Business Insider reported.

Other tech companies have also made similar offers to the administration recently, including Airbnb, Google, and Facebook.
