Senate Republicans don't like the House healthcare bill and the Congressional Budget Office's score only makes it worse for them, CNN reported.

The CBO noted the House bill would mean 23 million fewer Americans would be insured than under Obamacare by 2026, CNN said. And some would see overall healthcare costs go up by even "thousands of dollars" for the so-called essential benefits, according to the news network.

Louisiana Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy has introduced a healthcare bill of his own in the Senate. He maintained the House bill — the American Health Care Act — just isn't good enough, CNN said.

"Congress' focus must be to lower premiums with coverage which passes the 'Jimmy Kimmel Test.' The AHCA does not," Cassidy said, referring to ABC late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who made a plea for coverage of patients with pre-existing conditions.

"I am working with Senate colleagues to do so," Cassidy said.

And Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., dismissed talk of the House bill, NBC News reported.

"It's informative to know the estimated impact of the House health care bill, but the Senate is writing its own bill, which will receive its own score from the Congressional Budget Office before the Senate votes," Alexander said.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, added: "Unfortunately, the CBO estimates that 23 million Americans would lose insurance coverage over the next decade, and the impact would disproportionately affect older, low-income Americans.

"I urge my colleagues to support the comprehensive ACA replacement plan Senator Cassidy and I introduced that will allow more Americans to obtain health insurance, preserve significant consumer protections, and help moderate the cost of health care."
