Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said he is very close to a deal with the FBI over the release of a classified Democratic countermemo., The Hill is reporting.

"I think we’re very close to reaching an agreement on it," said Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

The Democratic memo was put together as a rebuttal to a GOP intelligence memo alleging abuses of surveillance authority by the FBI, CNN noted.

President Donald Trump has tweeted the Republican memo "vindicates" him in the continuing Russia probe, The Hill said.

Meanwhile, Schiff continues to work with the FBI in making changes to the Democrat’s memo. Schiff has said he is willing to make redactions to protect sources, but is against making any changes to information the White House may be attempting to block, according to The Hill.

“What I am trying to gain visibility into is what are the concerns of the FBI and (Justice Department), because we want to redact that," he said. "And what are political redactions that the White House might be insisting on?" he said.
