Oprah Winfrey is an "inspiring person," but has not shown that she is qualified to run for president of the United States, Rep. Adam Kinzinger said Monday.

"She's fun to watch on television, she does great television, but hasn't shown herself to be worthy of running for president. I mean, I guess she could run for it, but she hasn't necessarily shown the qualifications of what it would take to be president," the Illinois Republican told Fox News' Mike Emanuel.

"I think there's a lot of people that are intrigued by the idea of having Oprah Winfrey running for office, and hearing her speeches, and her inspiration, and her story, which is actually very inspiring. She's an inspiring person," Kinzinger said.

"But I think when they look at it, they're like, but what has she done to show that she could be a good commander in chief. And so, if she does end up running, I think it'll be fun. It's going to be a very crowded Democratic primary, I think it's going to be way more crowded than even the Republicans were," the congressman said, referring to the 2016 Republican primary.

"It'll be interesting to see how she stands up to the other 20 or so that will be running at the same time," Kinzinger added.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump called Winfrey "very insecure" in a tweet criticizing a "60 Minutes" segment in which Winfrey interviewed a group of voters about Trump's first year in office.
