Former Vice President Joe Biden has an early delegate lead in the Democratic race for president, a new poll finds.

A CBS News/YouGov Tracker estimated that Biden has 600 votes among Democratic National Convention delegates from 18 states with early primaries and caucuses, compared to 545 delegates for Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.

A look at some of the results:

  • Behind Biden and Warren are Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., with 286 delegates; former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, with 34 delegates; Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., with 16 delegates; and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., with 13 delegates.
  • Warren leads Biden in New Hampshire, 27% to 26%.
  • Biden is ahead of Sanders in Iowa (29% to 26%) and South Carolina (43% to 18%).
  • Sanders leads Biden in Nevada, 29% to 27%.
  • 41% of those polled said Biden is the most presidential, followed by Warren (28%), Sanders (19%), and Harris (11%).
  • 42% said Warren is the most knowledgable, followed by Biden and Sanders (both at 24%) and Harris (10%).
  • 89% said healthcare is a very important issue in the 2020 election, followed by climate change (80%), guns (76%), income inequality (71%), and education (70%).

The poll was conducted from Aug. 28-Sept. 4 among 7,804 self-identified Democrats and independents who lean toward the Democrat Party. The margin of error is plus or minus 1.8 percentage points.
