The spiraling number of Wuhan virus cases is triggering growing questions about the Chinese government's handling of the outbreak, including whether it downplayed the scope of the threat until it was too late to readily contain it.

Twenty-six people have died from the disease, and 830 cases have been diagnosed. Early symptoms are similar to the flu, with the youngest victim to date said to be just 36 years old.
