Battered by the double whammy of softening demand and the trade war with China, trucking companies are going out of business in record numbers – an ominous sign for the entire U.S. economy.

In just the first half of 2019, over 640 trucking firms went belly up according to Donald Broughton, managing partner of data firm Broughton Capital, a leading transportation-sector analyst.
