U.S. farmers buffeted by the double whammy of the trade war with China and a cooling economy are turning to a controversial new cash crop to save their farms: Hemp.
The cultivation of hemp, the gentler, non-psychoactive cousin of marijuana, was legalized as part of the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill signed into law in December. It may have arrived just in time to save hundreds or even thousands of U.S. farms.
