Democrats May Push Progressive Agenda With Budget Reconciliation

Though President Joe Biden talked up his bipartisan bona fides on the campaign trail, and vowed to work toward "bringing America together" in his inaugural address, Biden’s remarks Thursday indicating he could support scrapping the filibuster in the Democrat-controlled Senate line up with how he's governed since taking the White House.

Democrats essentially tossed any pretense of bipartisanship out the window when they used an arcane process known as budget reconciliation to pass the $1.9 trillion bill sold as coronavirus relief without any support from Republican lawmakers.
