Ex-CIA Directors Push Back Against Obama

By    |   Monday, 21 September 2009 11:46 AM

Seven former CIA directors are trying to stop the Obama administration from going after those who have been protecting Americans. On Aug. 24, Attorney General Eric Holder appointed John Durham as a federal prosecutor to investigate CIA officers who might have abused suspected terrorists. But according to the Washington Times, “seven of the 10 living former CIA chiefs [on Sept. 18] urged President [Barack] Obama to overrule his attorney general and not reopen investigations into CIA employees."

The former CIA chiefs say that “further investigations would demoralize current CIA officers and might also lead allied intelligence services to suspend or scale back cooperation with the United States because the judicial probes could disclose joint operations and activities.”

No doubt. But they want Obama to overrule Holder? How disingenuous. Do they really think that Holder is acting on his own, and that Obama is not behind the whole thing? Whom are they kidding? But maybe they know what a megalomaniac the president is — so they are trying to give him a respectable out to this national suicide plan.

Obama is angry about the treatment of terrorists, and is going after those who put protecting Americans first. The hypocrisy of this administration is breathtaking. And it doesn’t end there. It has come to light this week that Obama has hung the Iranian democracy protesters out to dry in his 2010 budget. A Congressional Research Service report shows that in 2009, $67 million was earmarked for the promotion of democracy in Iran. But in its budget for the fiscal year 2010, the Obama administration did not request any funding at all for the promotion of democracy in Iran. None.

But where is Obama interested in promoting democracy? He wants to create a Palestinian state. The jihadis in Islamic-occupied Israel (otherwise known as the West Bank and Gaza) and their useful tools in the West continue their propaganda onslaught on the free world, but they make no bones about what the illegally seized Jewish land will be: an Islamic state. Last month Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayad met with over 50 senators and representatives, telling them that the new Palestinian state would be an Islamic state, devoted to “developing and implementing programs of Shariah education as derived from the science of the Holy Quran and prophet’s heritage.” A Palestinian Islamic state will not be a democracy, it will be Gaza tenfold, a terror state — and Obama wants to set it up. Why are we doing this? Would we help set up a Nazi state? What's the difference?

Also this week, on the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashana, Obama sent greetings — to Muslims on the occasion of the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of Ramadan. He sent Jews Rosh Hashana greetings also, including a veiled jab reflecting his acceptance of Palestinian propaganda: “Let's reject the impulse to harden ourselves to others’ suffering.” More Rosh Hashana greetings came from Zbigniew Brzezinski, Obama’s top foreign policy adviser, who said that the U.S. should stop an Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities by sending U.S. planes to “confront” Israeli planes over Iraq.

That’s right, Obama’s top foreign policy adviser wants American forces to protect Iranian nuclear facilities.

And in yet another action designed to dismay our friends and encourage our enemies, Obama abandoned our allies Poland and the Czech Republic in a breathtaking surrender to Russia, abandoning their missile defense shield. Former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton commented: “I think this is a near catastrophe for American relations with Eastern European countries and many in NATO. It was the kind of unilateral decision that the Bush administration was always criticized for and I think the clear winners are in Russia and Iran."

Perhaps if Poland and the Czech Republic go jihad and come out with some anti-American, anti-Semitic rhetoric they can gain some ground with the president. But all kidding aside, this is a nightmare. Unconscionable in the extreme. As is his continuing assault on the freedoms of Americans: the Washington Times reported Sept. 16 “the White House is collecting and storing comments and videos placed on its social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube without notifying or asking the consent of the site users, a failure that appears to run counter to President Obama's promise of a transparent government and his pledge to protect privacy on the Internet.”

Big Brother is watching and waiting. Imagine if George W. Bush ever did anything like this. And the thing is, why? Obama has said that there is no war on terror, no war on Islamic jihad. As a matter of fact, the word jihad has been banned from government lexicon. So why all the spying on American citizens?

We now have a president who seeks to divide and destroy. Has the nation ever been so at odds? Not since the civil war. And in a stunning paradox, we now have a president seeking to enslave half the American people. I shudder to think what the next three years hold. The CIA prosecutions are just the beginning. The president has over three more years to hound those who protected us, restrict our freedoms, demoralize our allies, and hearten our enemies.
