2022 No Slam-Dunk for GOP

Republicans will almost certainly reverse the Democrats' advantage in the House and Senate, but we should be concerned about recently tightening races across the country. The Democrats seem to be holding their own when they should be losing across the board!

The GOP is poised to make major gains in the House and Senate. Republicans are in the strongest position they have been politically in decades; indeed, when it comes to salient political issues, the GOP is in a far more favorable position than during the elections of 1994 and 2010.

President Joe Biden has a 54% unfavorable rating and a vast majority of Americans think that the direction of our country is on the wrong track. This election for all intents and purposes should be over; we should be in a position focusing mainly on making estimates on the size of Republican majorities in the House and Senate too!

Having secured once competitive races, Republicans should be now be able to flood money and resources in Democrat strongholds for governors' races in places such as Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania.

So why isn't this happening? Republicans must choose between kowtowing to their traditional large corporate donors and salvaging what is left of a once promising advantage, or they can pull off a monumental victory in the midterms by going on the offensive and fighting fire with fire. Democrats have been savaging Republicans as barbaric troglodytes who would take us back to the Stone Age.

Yet, the reality is that the Democratic Party remains committed to implementing a dangerous progressive agenda opposed by most Americans. Republican candidates must show a laser-like focus on highlighting what life will be like if the Democrats maintain their majorities.

Progressive strategists are doing an impressive job of keeping voters' attention away from issues that matter the most and Republicans are taking the bait. Here is what Republicans should talk about from now through Election Day:

Inflation - The Democrats' plan on inflation seems to be that we should accept it as the "new normal." You've probably heard the saying that "There are no atheists in foxholes." Well, pretty soon there is going to be "no such thing as a Democrat in a supermarket." Food prices are soaring.

Republican candidates must press the issue on why families can't afford groceries. Many Americans don't have enough money to put gas in their cars just so they can go to work, and the Biden administration response is to suggest buying an expensive electric vehicle.

Maintaining a Democratic majority ushers in a new era where progressives believe Americans should embrace not being able to afford groceries or drive their own cars anymore.

Hormone Blockers for Young Children and Sex Education for Five-Year-Olds - Under the guise of promoting "trans rights," little kids are being forced to take sex education classes in kindergarten. Advocates aligned with the Democratic Party are now claiming that children have a constitutional right to privacy permitting them to take hormones and puberty blockers without parental permission as early as 12 years old!

Republicans should not be afraid to say loudly and frequently from coast to coast that this is unacceptable and children deserve protection.

Secure Our Borders - This is an obvious issue that not only resonates with the Republican base but should also be highlighted in traditionally Democrat areas. Illegal immigration has reached a breaking point across the country. It is so out of control that the City of New York, up until a few days ago, planned to house 1,000 migrants in a flood zone!

Women's Sports - Thanks to Joe Biden's Executive Order, women's sports could be on the verge of collapse. Women should benefit from sports scholarships just as much as men; this is going to be impossible in the future. Biological males have enormous physical advantages against biological females. It is absurd to pretend otherwise and it is foolhardy for Republicans to ignore this issue.

Stop Being Terrified of Abortion; Discuss Real Threats to Americans - According to an Economist/YouGov poll, abortion is the No. 1 issue for just 4% of Americans. Democrats are using this issue to raise funds off their extreme base. The suggestion that pregnant women will die as a result of the Dobbs decision is clearly an outright falsehood, a vile disgusting lie, but a potentially brilliant tactic when Republicans don't tackle the issue head on.

Republicans should counter graphically and vividly about their opponents' support of gruesome partial birth abortion. When Democrats talk about abortion it is a well-conceived diversion from their pro-criminal agenda which includes disastrous bail reform and defunding the police. Republicans should point that out every time!

This is a historic opportunity for Republicans across the country, in local, state and federal races. As Margaret Thatcher once famously said, "This is no time to go wobbly."
